About the Chapter Management Tool
The CMT is where Theta Tau chapters keep their record: the roster, officer terms, events and attendance, dues, awards, ballots, and the forms that pass between a chapter, its region and the Central Office.
Why it exists
Chapter business used to live in spreadsheets, email attachments and a filing cabinet in Springfield. Every officer kept their own copy, and when they graduated, the chapter's history often graduated with them. The CMT keeps one copy that outlasts any single term, and puts the same numbers in front of the chapter, its Regional Director and the Central Office at the same time.
It is also the fraternity's system of record. Initiations, status changes, officer elections and the disciplinary process all become official here, not in the email that announced them.
Who uses it
Members
See your chapter's roster and calendar, get counted at events, pay what you owe, apply for awards and scholarships, and keep your own contact details current through graduation and beyond.
Chapter officers
File the reports your office owns, from a task list that says what is due and when. Regents, Scribes, Treasurers, Corresponding Secretaries, Vice Regents, Educators and Risk Management Chairs each get a guide to their own term.
Advisers & Regional Directors
Watch every chapter in the region from one page: who is behind on what, which chapters are healthy, and where a visit is worth the trip.
National officers & the Central Office
Run the national roster, awards, ballots and the forms only the national organization can approve, without asking every chapter for the same spreadsheet twice a year.
The CMT is not thetatau.org and it is not the training portal. Those are separate sites. This one is for running your chapter.
Built by brothers, for brothers
Nobody bought the CMT. It is written and maintained by volunteer brothers who wanted their own chapters to spend less of the year on paperwork. Almost everything here started as a chapter saying “this part is painful”, which is also the fastest way to change it.
The source is public and licensed GPLv3, so any brother can read exactly what the tool does with their chapter's data.
We could use your help
Tell us what is broken
No coding required, and it is the most useful thing most brothers can do. If a page is wrong, slow or confusing, say so. That is where the next release comes from.
Report a bug or ideaWrite some code
The CMT is Django and Python. If you have shipped anything on the web, or want to learn on a real project that brothers actually use every day, there is an issue with your name on it.
How to contributeTell us how your chapter works
Every chapter runs a little differently. If the tool assumes something about dues, elections or attendance that is not true where you are, we want to hear it.
